Musically Minded

Hello all! Hope you're having a nice week.  This year I joined the Wind Ensemble directed by Professor Paul LeClaire.  I have played the flute since fourth grade and I thought it would be nice to keep up with it throughout college.  Band is a full year course that is one credit per semester and it counts as "Artistic Experience."  I have really enjoyed playing in the band and have made new friends (Shout out to Sarah W, Corynne D, and Alicia M).
Last weekend the band and jazz band went on a trip down to New Jersey to play a benefit concert.  We left at 8 am on friday morning, played part of the concert to elementary school children in Winooski and then headed all the way down to New Jersey.  We arrived at our hotel around 3:30 and had an hour and a half to relax until our next concert.  I roomed with three other girls and we all had so much fun with each other.  At 5:00 we drove to a local high school to play the benefit concert for the people of Japan.  We were greeted with a banquet and ate our heart's content of delicious food.  Our concert began at 8:00 and it was amazing.  We helped to raise $5000.00 to donate to the relief effort.  I am so happy I became a part of the Wind Ensemble and was able to go on this trip.
This friday the band is playing a concert in the McCarthy Arts Center at 7:00.  Hope to see you all there because it is definitely worth going!!!!

"Konnecting with Kayley": All About Me

Hi my name is Kayley and I am a first year student at Saint Michael’s College.  I am a Spanish and Secondary Education major with a French minor.  I am also part of the Honors Program and GREAT program.  I am from Wantagh, New York which is located on the south shore of Long Island, just about 8 hours away!!!  Some of my favorite things to do are seeing my friends, going to the different events on campus, and going to my classes.  I also love meeting new people and making new friends.  One of the ways I hope to reach out to prospective students is through my blog.  I hope I can answer all your questions and inspire you to come to Saint Michael’s.
How did I choose Saint Michael’s?  I actually never heard about Saint Mike’s until my junior year of High School when I received the Saint Michael’s Book Award.  I was immediately intrigued by the school and researched it on the internet and at the library.  I also read some current student blogs to really learn about the student life here and to have first-hand information about what life was like in college.  I really looked forward to reading the different blogs and seeing the pictures that the bloggers posted to give me a real inside look into their lives.  The blogs really motivated me to come to visit Saint Mike’s and the first time I visited was in the summer of my senior year.  I went on a tour of the campus and immediately fell in love with it and surrounding area. Saint Mike’s has proven to be the perfect fit for me and I hope it will be for you too!
Please ask me any questions you have about Saint Michael’s on twitter! Hope to hear from you soon, and best wishes in your college search.
