Kitchen Kreations

**Scroll to the bottom for new stuff!**

Welcome everyone to Kitchen Kreations (cleverly spelled with a "K" and not a "C").  This year I am living in a townhouse in the 400s.  I am very excited and am facing a big change- living in a townhouse means a reduced meal plan. Instead of unlimited trips to Alliot, I am limited to 40 meals in Alliot per semester. That's scary for me as someone who has never really had to cook for myself. Now I don't want to say that I'm a stranger to the kitchen, I had to cook for myself when I was in Paris with only a 2 burner stove and at home I help to prepare our meals, but I've never been solely responsible for cooking my meals. So as a beginner, I've decided to start this page to help chronicle my trials and tribulations in the kitchen! Enjoy!!!

Meal #1

This was last week obviously, but I've been quite busy so you shall see now!  It is called zucchini dinner because it is mostly zucchini.

ingredients:
2-3 zucchinis
1 can cannelli beans
1 can crushed tomatoes
tomato sauce
1 onion
salt and pepper

All you have to do is chop up the zucchinis, and then put everything into a big pan and add as much tomato sauce as you want. Cook until the zucchini is tender and serve on top of pasta!

Meal #2

This is cheater's roast beef!

ingredients:
roast beef from the deli counter- as much as you think you can eat
1 can gravy

This meal is simple, just heat the gravy on the stove and then add in the roast beef when it is hot. Just be sure to cut up the beef before so it will be easier to serve and eat. I like to eat the meal with cooked broccoli and a baked potato.

p.s that's a potato..it just looks funny

Meal #3

Ok, I'm not sure if this even was meal 3, but here it is!  This is my FAVORITE meal that I have made so far and I'm going to be making it again this week.  It's called "Beef and Noodle Toss" but I think the recipe person should have come up with a better name.  It's delish though!

ingredients:

a steak or something like it
cherry tomatoes
mushrooms
8 oz of beef broth
some flour
pasta

ok, first cut up beef and cover it with some flour then you saute it in a pan until it's all cooked.  Then you add in the mushrooms and tomatoes and then put in the beef broth. let it cook down until it's sort of saucy looking.  Then you can boil up some pasta and serve it up! Bon appetit!!!

Meal #4 or something like that

Chickpea salad:  This is my own creation (oh la la) and it is so yummy and easy!

ingredients

1 can of chickpeas
chopped tomatoes
some red pepper
crumbled feta cheese
some chopped red onion
chopped cucumber
olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dressing

Just mix and enjoy! Serve with Pita bread if you like!

Meal #5?
Ok this is called spanish chicken and rice, it's not my favorite and I'm not even sure if I'll ever make it again.  But if you make it and make some alterations that improve it, tell me!

ingredients:

chicken
can of salsa
green peppers
onion
extra tomatoes
rice

What did I do?
First cut up the chicken and saute it, then drain off the extra fat because that's yucky.  Add salsa, chopped tomatoes, onion, some green peppers, and let that cook down for a while.  Keep stirring it and don't let it burn.  Serve on top of rice

Meal #6 perhaps

Pasta Primavera: SO SO SO YUMMY!

ingredients

cut up asparagus
cauliflower
peas
cherry tomatoes yellow and red
pasta

All I did was saute all the veggies, you can add different spices, and then serve on top of the pasta! It was so good and this will definitely be on my meal list!  Maybe you can add chicken too!

Meal #7

Once again, a failed meal, not too bad but definitely not worth making again this way at least!  I tried to make quesadillas with green peppers and I let them burn a tad by accident and then it was a fail trying to get them into the tortilla without losing all the filling!

ingredients:

green peppers
onion
cheese
tortillas

All I did was saute the peppers and onions and then try to get them into the quesadilla with little success

Meal #8

This I made with my mom when she came to visit me on October Break:

Spinach and Butternut Squash Stuffed Shells!

Here's the recipe: http://www.prouditaliancook.com/2009/10/butternut-squash-stuffed-shells-with.html

and some pictures:

Meal #9

Here's what we made for my birthday dinner last weekend:

I made Baked Caprese Pasta:  http://www.canadianfamily.ca/recipe/baked-caprese-pasta-with-fresh-mozzarella-tomatoes-and-basil/

and my roomies made garlic bread and sweet potato fries.  Everything was delicious!

Meal #10

Curried Lentil Soup:  this looks NASTY but it is very yummy, especially with saltine crackers!

Recipe:  http://ohsheglows.com/2011/01/18/curried-lentil-soup/

Meal #11

Pork chops:

All I do is throw some terryaki (not sure how to spell that bahaha) sauce on top and bake at around 350 for a while, cook up a sweet potato and make some apple sauce.  To make apple sauce all you have to do is cut up an apple into tiny bits and microwave it for a while.  I like to add cinnamon too.
